Reality is never as good or as bad as I imagine it to be. It’s somewhere in the middle. It never quite lives up to the hype and it never truly is like living in a lake of fire either. The Buddha called this Dukkha, the Bible calls it the vicissitudes of life. Take the middle way, take the good with the bad. You would not even know what good was if you did not know what bad was and vice versa. The book of Genesis tells the cautionary tale of Adam and Eve eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. “There is nothing good or bad but thinking makes it so” (Bill Shakespeare). Happiness is relative and subjective. What made us happy last year may not make us happy today. What makes you happy may not make me happy and vice versa. There are many people on earth living in many degrees between the opposite poles of pure hell and transcendent bliss. It is what it is. I also cannot separate what I have learned about Astrology and Numerology when it comes to whether someone leads a charmed life or not. Its not just the law of attraction, some people really are luckier or unluckier at the moment of their birth.
In the meantime we are bombing at the box office in creating a Utopia. Luckily we have the possibilities of reincarnation and the new Aquarian age to look forward to. I say this in a half-joking way but there are a lot of signs that point in that direction. If we really knew that we were coming back to this earth again after we died, would we continue to treat it like a toilet bowl? We are all living out our lives like the movie, ‘Groundhog Day’. We keep coming back over and over to learn the same lessons until we respond to life in a different way. Our modern society suffers from bad ideas and nothing more.
